Dress Code

All sections below embody our current uniform and dress code policies. Uniforms are required for all students in grades K-8 at all times. Uniforms should be clean, neatly pressed and worn with pride. The uniform identifies the student as being a member of the Saint Mary School community. Parents and students are expected to be cooperative and follow all aspects of the uniform requirements of Saint Mary School.

Students failing to adhere to these dress codes are subject to disciplinary action and can be excluded from class. Parents will be notified so the violation can quickly be remedied. Students are never permitted to change in/out of their uniforms on school premises. There is no exception.

Footwear

Saint Mary Star of the Sea School encourages the wearing of dark oxfords and other dress-type shoes. Sneakers, sandals, clogs, boots or athletic shoes with heavy grooved soles are not allowed. Sneakers must be worn on physical education days only. High-heeled shoes, platforms and clogs are not allowed. Snow boots may be worn to school and students must change into the proper uniform shoes. Students should not be wearing wet boots all day in school.

Accessories and Make-Up

Jewelry worn at school must be kept to a minimum. one pair of earrings (for girls only) may be worn. For the sake of safety these should be small and should not dangle. Religious jewelry (necklaces or bracelets) may be worn on the outside of the uniform. Any other jewelry should be kept underneath the blouse or shirt. Elaborate hair ornaments are not acceptable with the uniform.

Make-up is never allowed as part of the every day uniform. This includes lipstick, eye make-up, nail polish or any other type of make-up. Students may not bring any type of perfume, cologne or spray type bottle to school for any reason.

Hair Styles

It is expected that hair will be neat and clean at all times. No extreme haircuts or styles will be allowed. This includes tails, spikes, lines cut into the hair, shaving one's head, or coloring one's hair.

Grades K-5
• Plaid Jumper
• Navy Blue Dress Pants or Corduroy Dress Pants allowed Dec.1 - Mar. 31
• Lt. Blue Round Collar Blouse (must be tucked in)
• Sweater - Navy Blue with Logo
• Socks/Tights - Navy
• Dress Shorts - Navy Uniform Only (knee length)
• Summer Shirt - Light Blue Polo with Logo (must be tucked in)
• Shoes - Black, Low Heel, Rubber Sole Shoe (closed toe heel)

Grades 6-8
• Uniform Culotte
• Navy Blue Dress Pants or Corduroy Dress Pants allowed Dec.1 - Mar. 31
• Lt. Blue Round Collar Blouse (must be tucked in)
• Sweater - Navy Blue with Logo
• Navy Blue Uniform Vest with Logo
• Socks/Tights - Navy
• Dress Shorts - Navy Uniform Only (knee length)
• Summer Shirt - Light Blue Polo with Logo (must be tucked in)
• Shoes - Black, Low Heel, Rubber Sole Shoe (closed toe heel)

The uniform dress short and summer polo shirt may be worn from May 1 through September 30. The uniform dress short may never be worn to Church.

Grades 6-8
